Please see Mrs. Lillquist to sign up. High School Spring Sports with Mason City - Please contact AD Tyler Borcahrdt if you are interested in playing Tennis or Soccer for Mason City this spring. Just a reminder: When students enter or leave the building, please use the northeast entrance by the office. Anytime any student enters the building after 8:10 am or exits the building before 3:10 pm, you must check in or out at the office. Athletics HS grade checks will resume on Friday, April 18th, and run weekly for the remainder of the school year. Extracurricular Dates: Thursday, April 24, 2025 4:15 = HS Co-ed Golf @ Rockford - Buffalo Run Golf Course (dismiss at 2:50, bus leaves at 3 pm) 4:30 = HS Girls Track @ Nashua (dismiss at 2:45, bus leaves at 3 pm) Friday, April 25, 2025 4:30 = HS Boys Track @ North Butler (bus leaves at 3:15 pm) Tuesday, April 29, 2025 4:30 = JH Boys Track @ Belmond (dismiss at 3:00, bus leaves at 3:10 pm) - Admission = $2/adult and $1/student Friday, May 2, 2025 4:30 = JH Girls Track @ Garner (dismiss at 3:00, bus leaves at 3:10 pm) This is a reminder that we are transitioning to a cashless ticketing system for all home athletics events this year. Options to purchase tickets include purchasing a ticket in advance on Bound or purchasing a ticket with a card at the gate (NO CASH ACCEPTED). Athletic ticket prices are $8 for Adults and $5 for Students/Senior Citizens. Thanks to our sponsors, Warhawk Students will again have free admission to all regular-season home events for the 24/25 school year. Attendance All students are expected to attend school regularly and to be on time. Students and their parents are expected to make attendance a top priority. Regular attendance and promptness are necessary for getting the maximum value from the instructional program and for developing habits of punctuality, self-discipline, and responsibility. Class participation is vital to learning, and learning lost due to an absence can never be replaced. Students with good attendance records engage more, earn better grades, enjoy school to a greater degree, and are more successful after leaving school. Good attendance fosters a lifelong pattern of responsibility. To monitor chronic absenteeism, letters will be sent home after 4.57, and 10 absences quarterly. - 10% Absenteeism: When a student’s absences reach 10%, parents will be sent a certified letter regarding attendance, and the county attorney will also be notified. NOTE: There is no distinction between excused and unexcused absences. - 15% Absenteeism: If the absence rate reaches 15%, a mandatory meeting with the county attorney will be held to set attendance agreements and expectations. - 20% Absenteeism: If the absence rate reaches 20%, legal consequences and actions by the county attorney (which could include community-based supports, fines, and in extreme cases a child’s removal from the home and/or jail time for the parents) will be enacted. Please note that if the state provides guidance that this goes by quarterly grading periods, 4.5 absences for any reason (with the exception of absences for items such as school activities or the specific ones already allowed by the law) would trigger those steps above as required by the state. We know this could easily impact when and how you schedule your vacations, especially if done during the traditional cold and flu season, or when doctor’s appointments are scheduled. The new laws will impact all students and families who reach these thresholds.

Golf Meet day!
We had some of the West Fork Throwers travel to Des Moines this afternoon to watch The World Shot Put Series at the Drake Relays. They were able to see several Olympic throwers compete, including the current world record holder Ryan Crouser. Such an awesome opportunity for our athletes to see some the world’s best on display.
